Essay writing.

This assignment requires us to write a well-developed and well-organised 5-paragraph expository and argumentative essay. It also requires us to apply correct APA style referencing techniques.

As a whole, essay writing is one of the easiest assignments throughout the whole English 1 module. However, I am not used to making mind maps before writing an essay. This is because I always start off writing anything that comes across my mind. I find this habit very useful as I get to develop my essays in a more organized way as compared to my usual way of writing before.

Listening skills.

This test aims to sharpen our listening and analytical skills.
​
I was quite confident about this test because I had done such listening tests when I studied English at Helen O'Grady back in Penang years ago. It started off well until I came to some sections where I misunderstood the instructions. It caused me to slow down and I missed some parts of the narration. Luckily, our lecturer-Miss Lojana played the narration for the second time for us to check. I paid more attention at the second round and the results came out well.

This module has 2 assignments. The first one is a video/live presentation while the second one is a photo blog.

Video Presentation

Our group decided to go for video presentation rather than a live performance. I was in charge of scriptwriting and directing the video. Inspired by the famous anime series "Hell Girl/ Jigoku Shoujo", this story is about a pair of twin sisters having almost everything in common until one guy comes into their lives and changed everything forever.

Photo Blog

As for our second assignment, we were to choose a particular place and research about the food, people, activities and architectural conservation on that area. We had a rough time choosing the time and venue for this assignment as the due date was after our Deepavali break. Everyone was going back to their respective home town. So we could only choose a location around Kuala Lumpur and finish the trip within one day. At last, we visited Petaling Street for our blog. I was glad we could visit our country's famed Chinatown because I have never been there before. I was also amazed by the replica bags on sale. They have almost every single brand on sale such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry and many more. I like this assignment very much and I decided to push my boundaries further by choosing to use a new blog hosting site which is Wordpress. I had a blog hosted by Blogger before but I wanted to try out Wordpress so I guess this is the opportunity I should grab.
